Company overview
MJS is a private company with extensive experience in providing specialist arboriculture & horticulture solutions. With over 25 years of industry experience, we have evolved into a sizable operation employing over 35 local personnel, with skills covering a wide range of vegetation management. The skilled staff at MJS are a close-knit team who take pride in their ability to perform their work safely and efficiently under difficult and sometimes arduous conditions.
MJS have acquired an exceptional reputation for the care and maintenance of trees and vegetation across South Australia. We pride ourselves on our commitment to continually improving processes to meet our ever-changing climate conditions. We are in the process of moving towards battery operated plant and equipment to further reduce our environmental impact. We are also in the initial stages of implementing a tree planting program where we will be planting 2 trees for every tree we cut down.

Safety
MJS prides itself on our commitment to providing a safe work environment. Through our comprehensive safety policy (MJS WHS&E Manual), daily toolbox meetings, regular safety meetings, and ongoing safety training, we maintain a safety-first culture. Before commencing any task, our staff identify any potential hazards and complete risk assessments and plant pre start assessments, in order to identify and prevent any possible incidents before they occur.
Training
MJS is committed to ongoing upskilling of our employees, providing traineeships and nationally recognised courses through numerous training providers to ensure all staff have appropriate training, skills and qualifications to carry out their duties. This is monitored and managed through the business’s skills matrix register, which can be provided on request.

Operating principles
- Abide by the Charter of Contractors Responsibilities
- Liaise with landholders & Government Representatives as required
- Confirm extent of works & program for each site including property access arrangements before commencement of operations
- Supply & transport equipment & materials to site as necessary to undertake the works
- Minimise any environmental disturbance when undertaking controlled removal of exotic trees or invasive weeds
- Make good any preventable damage that occurs as a direct result of the works
- Abide by all relevant Work, Safety and Welfare Regulations (2012) and complete a JSA before works commence
- Abide by all relevant Environmental Regulations (1993) and to comply with all relevant Environment Standards and Codes of Practice
- Prefer Round Up Bi-Active ® as their preferred herbicide and agree to gain approval for the use of herbicides from the Departmental Representative before application. We will make good any ineffective weed kills by re-application of herbicide or other means as appropriate & agreed to by the Departmental Representative
